A Bearcat For Life Story

When people ask why I’m a Bearcat for life, the answer is simple: the University of Cincinnati gave me so much more than just a degree. It gave me my home away from home.

On move-in day, I moved into Dabney Hall, and by complete chance, my room was the very last one on the women’s side of the floor, right next to the men’s hallway. My mom was shocked when she realized it was co-ed, but little did she know I was about to meet the person I’d spend the rest of my life with.

That day, my roommate and I introduced ourselves to the guys next door, and that’s when I met Bryce.

From the moment I first toured UC as a high school junior, I knew there was something special about this campus. Even though it was pouring rain that day, I could still picture myself there. Looking back now, I couldn’t have imagined just how much that decision would shape my life.

Bryce and I became part of the same friend group, started dating during our freshman year, and never looked back. Some of my favorite memories came from our time together at UC, being involved in Greek life, serving as student ambassadors, cheering on the Bearcats, attending formals, making lifelong friends, and growing into the people we are today.

College is where you discover who you are, and for me, UC was where so many of life’s biggest moments began.

A few years after graduation in 2021, Bryce proposed overlooking the very place where we first met. It was the most full-circle moment, and a reminder that our story will always be connected to the University of Cincinnati.

Today we live in Charlotte, North Carolina, but being Bearcats is still a huge part of who we are. We stay involved with the Charlotte Alumni Network, love representing UC wherever we go, and are proud to share what makes this university so special with people who may have never experienced it themselves.

No matter where life takes us, UC will always be the place that changed everything. It gave me incredible friendships, unforgettable memories, opportunities I never could have imagined, and the love of my life.

I’ll always be grateful to call myself a Bearcat — for life.
