Apply Now for Full Cincinnatus Scholarships

Applications are underway for a University of Cincinnati scholarship competition among the nation's brightest high school seniors. This unique competition, Cincinnatus VII, brings these academically talented students to campus so they can showcase their ability, leadership and commitment to service. Everyone who's invited to compete will go home a winner, and eight top candidates will be awarded full four-year scholarships of $60,000 to pay for tuition, room and board, fees and books.

Students are strongly encouraged to submit their applications and documents to UC no later by Dec. 15. All materials must have arrived at the UC Office of Admissions no later than Jan. 15, 2003.

Up to 1,500 students are expected to compete in the University of Cincinnati Cincinnatus VII competition. Letters have been mailed to high school guidance counselors nationwide to encourage their top achievers to apply. Students who qualify for Cincinnatus will be invited to campus Saturday, Feb. 15, 2003 to compete in essay and problem-solving activities. Make up dates will be held on Monday, Feb. 3 and Friday, Feb. 21.

Students will be competing for $11 million in scholarship awards:

Cincinnatus -- Eight full scholarship awards of $60,000

Founders - 100 Founders awards amounting to $20,000, or $5,000 per year

University - 200 University awards of $10,000, or $2,500 per year

Century - Awards of $6,000 total, or $1,500 per year

Out-of-state students also receive $3,000 annually added to their awards. Each student who competes will receive at least $1,500 in UC scholarship money.

To qualify for the competition, high school seniors with a minimum 3.00 unweighted high school grade point average must submit their completed applications (including high school transcript and test scores) to the University of Cincinnati and must also meet at least one of the following requirements:

High school rank in top five percent of class
ACT composite of 26

SAT combines score of 1170
