Lunch And Learn Series Focuses On Kidney Donation
The UC Wellness Center will sponsor the first Lunch and Learn program for the winter quarter on Wednesday, Jan. 19, at noon in Room 400-B of Tangeman University Center (TUC). Participants will get a free lunch, valuable information on living kidney donation, and a talk from Andrew Stallworth, Public Health Education Director of the Kidney Foundation of Greater Cincinnati.
Stallworth will be presenting a program entitled, Living Kidney Donation: A Gift of Love and Life which emphasizes the importance of organ donation and how donation saves lives.
Some facts provided by the Kidney Foundation of Greater Cincinnati:
81,000 people are on the national waiting list for organ donation
On average, 16 individuals die each day waiting for transplant
266 individuals are currently on the waiting list for Greater Cincinnati
176 out of the 266 are waiting for a kidney in Greater Cincinnati
Anyone from the university community is invited to attend. The Lunch and Learn series, sponsored by the UC Wellness Center, is a regular event during the academic quarter, providing free lunch with information sessions on health and fitness.
