In addition to a connection to the UC community, entrepreneur nominees for the Award for Entrepreneurial Excellence should have accomplished not only new venture success, but demonstrated a commitment to U.C. and/or the broader community.
In addition to the Award for Entrepreneurial Excellence, the winner and first runner-up of the UC MBA New Venture Business Plan competition are recognized for their entrepreneurial efforts both at UC and in any subsequent invitational competitions in which they participate, including the UC Spirit of Enterprise Business Plan Competition. Also, the winner of the Cecil Boatright Business Plan Competition is recognized for outstanding field case work as part of the Small Business Institute® and Field Case Studies programs (Fostering Entrepreneurial Education Together).

About the E-Center
Formally founded in 1997, the E-Centers vision and mission is to provide a state-of-the-art entrepreneurship curriculum and research base not only for potential student entrepreneurs and scholars, but also for people in the many organizations that interact with small, entrepreneurial and family owned businesses on a daily basis. The E-Center seeks remove barriers and create gateways for student and faculty entrepreneurs from across the University. Under the leadership of the Centers Founder/Director, Dr. Charles H. TREMOR is a performance art project created in response to Brianna Matzke's essential tremor diagnosis. It features a world premiere piano concert and panel discussion at 6 p.m. on May 5, 2024 at the American Sign Museum. The project also includes an art opening, with musical responses from local new-music ensemble concert:nova on April 28 at The Well.
