Army Awards Chemistry Profs Grant to Fight Terrorism
Brian Halsall, William Heineman, and Carl Seliskar are part of a research team recently awarded a $915,000 contract for developing a sensor system to monitor drinking water automatically for signs of biological attack by terrorists. The system would protect drinking water in both the United States and portable facilities used abroad by the military.
The team includes participants from the University of Dayton Research Institute, YSI Inc., Micro Molar Systems, and New Mexico State University. The project builds on technology supported by earlier grants from the American Water Works Research Association and Ohios Technology Action Fund.
