Hebrew Union College Calls for Papers

Hebrew Union College-University of Cincinnati Center for the Study of Ethics and Contemporary Moral Problems (HUC-UC Ethics Center) and the Graduate College of Union Institute & University are pleased to announce a call for papers to be presented at the annual program on “Poverty, Welfare, and Religion.” The theme of the upcoming symposium is Family, Gender, and Justice. It will be convened at Hebrew Union College-Jewish Institute of Religion in Cincinnati, Ohio, from May 18-20, 2007.

Papers may focus on religious thought and practice and the implications of poverty and welfare on family structures, gender roles, and social institutions. We welcome submissions from scholars in history (including: medieval studies, renaissance, and the modern period), religious studies, philosophy, sociology, social work, and political science.

Submission of abstracts must be received by Wednesday, November 29, 2006. Abstracts should not exceed five hundred words and must include title, author’s name and address. All conference papers will be refereed for publication.

HUC-UC Ethics Center and the Graduate College of Union Institute & University also encourage students who are engaged in academic research to submit proposals based on their work to the editorial committee. Authors should clearly indicate their student status with their submission.
