In advance of the Cincinnati Art Museum’s opening of its newly renovated Ottoman decorative arts gallery, listeners will have a chance to learn more about the historical and modern roles of Turkey when UC’s Taft Research Center and political science department host a lecture by historian and diplomat Paul Bernard Henze.

Henze will present "Turkey and the United States: Strategic Partners?" on Wednesday, Nov. 15, at 1 p.m. at the Taft Research Center. The lecture is free and open to the public.

Henze has had a wide-ranging career in academics and diplomacy, including service for more than 30 years in a variety of U.S. government and government-related organizations. From 1977-80, he was the senior staff officer of the National Security Council. He has also served as an advisor to the governments of Turkey, Ethiopia, Georgia and Uzbekistan, and in recent years has worked closely with the National Endowment for Democracy and the U.S. Institute of Peace.
