The UC Programs and Colleges to Benefit from PACE s In-Kind Contribution

The idea modeling and simulation testing made possible by the many varieties of software and hardware coming to the University of Cincinnati will affect teaching and learning in an equally wide variety of programs and units of UC.

These potentially include

UC’s College of Applied Science (CAS)
Founded in 1828, CAS was the first school dedicated to technical education west of the Alleghenies. Its heritage is rich and storied. For instance, the CAS technical library schooled the young Thomas Edison when he lived in Cincinnati and worked for Western Union. Today, CAS serves more than 1,500 students in majors like architectural technology, computer engineering technology, manufacturing engineering technology, mechanical engineering technology and software development.

UC’s nationally ranked College of Business (COB)
Recognized as one of the country’s best business schools by BusinessWeek magazine and by The Princeton Review, COB routinely offers its students opportunities to collaborate with engineering and design students in real-world challenges on behalf of national and international businesses. Thus, business students at UC receive early experience in working holistically and lending a specialized business perspective to projects involving concept design, human factors, analysis of engineering options and more.

UC’s internationally ranked College of Design, Architecture, Art, and Planning (DAAP)
Programs at UC’s DAAP have been recognized as among the best in the world by BusinessWeek magazine, by I.D. (International Design) magazine and in surveys of national employers. Within the college, students routinely create, model and test numerous futuristic consumer and industrial products such as (just to name a few) automobiles, electronics, home appliances, athletic aids, medical devices, solar energy technology and digital tools.

UC’s nationally ranked College of Engineering
Within the engineering programs at UC, students routinely explore critical issues related to nanotechnology, alternative fuels and sources of energy, greater vehicle safety and improving medical devices. Projects have included the redesign and rebuilding of a GM electric-powered vehicle as well as the annual building of a road-worthy race car.

UC’s nationally ranked College of Medicine
Founded in 1819, UC’s medical college is the second-oldest public medical school in the country and the oldest west of the Alleghenies. The College of Medicine is an education, patient care and research leader, having received – together with the affiliated Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center – $256 million in research funding support in 20
