Heimann Elected Board Chair

Sandra Heimann, Vice President of American Financial, Vice President of American Money Management, and Great American Insurance Company, has been elected chairperson of the University of Cincinnati Board of Trustees. Trustee C. Francis Barrett was elected vice chairperson, and Trustee Thomas H. Humes was elected secretary.

In addition to serving a nine-year term on the Board of Trustees (2003-12), Heimann is member of the Advisory Board of the UC Medical Center Fund and the Board of Directors for UCATS. She was instrumental in starting the Carl H. Lindner Honors Plus program in UC's College of Business in 1997 and now serves as a member of the Honors Plus Business Task Force Committee. She and her husband, Bob, are members of the University of Cincinnati's Circle of Honor.

In addition to her activities at the university, Heimann is a board member at the Cincinnati Zoo and a past member of the board of the Center for Reproduction of Endangered Species. She is a director of The Drake Planetarium and Tri-State Foundation. She has served Cincinnati Country Day School in various capacities and is a former member of the Downtown Council and the Fine Arts Board. She also served as the Honorary Co-Chairperson of the NCAA Woman's Final Four, and was Co-founder of the Cincinnati Aquatics Swim Team.

Heimann attended UC, and both her husband and daughter are graduates. She and her husband endowed a chair in molecular science at the University for the study of diseases including Alzheimer's and Juvenile Diabetes.

The university Board of Trustees elects officers each year. Trustees, appointed by Ohio's Governor, serve unpaid nine-year terms.
