Operations & Business Analytics Department Presents Workshop on 'The Retailer: Supply Chain s Last Mile'

The Department of Operations and Business Analytics

hosts the seventh annual Workshop on Hot Topics in Supply Chain Analytics, Practice and Technology on Friday, May 6, 2011 from 10:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. in Carl H. Lindner Hall 608.

“In today’s economy, retailers are drowning in data but are having a difficult time developing actionable insights,” says Michael Fry, associate professor of operations and business analytics. “In response to this trend, this year’s workshop will discuss how data can be leveraged to improve the supply chain’s performance by focusing on retailer concerns such as pricing, promotions, discounting and reducing stockouts and overstocks.

Workshop sessions will be hosted by industry leaders from P&G, Kroger, Office Max, The Nielsen Company and Retail Solutions Inc. In addition, Marshall Fisher, operations and information management professor from the Wharton School of Business, will be featured as a guest presenter, discussing the new science of retailing.

The workshop, sponsored by Les B. Artman, BBA ’72 and Accenture Foundation Inc., is free and open to the public. Seats are limited and registration is required. For registration and additional information, please contact Tricia Burger at
