UC Hosts Free Conference on Preventing Sexual Assault

On Thursday, Sept 13, the University of Cincinnati will host one in a series of regional meetings convened to address campus response to sexual assault and harassment. The Southwest Ohio Regional Meeting is convened by the Ohio Board of Regents, Ohio Department of Health, the Ohio Alliance to End Sexual Violence and the

Ohio Domestic Violence Network

.

“This is a great opportunity for UC to highlight our good work on these issues, as well as learn from our colleagues,’ said Amy Howton, UC Sexual Assault Response Coordinator.

The meeting features training from the Ohio Sexual and Intimate Partner Violence Prevention Consortium's Campus Safety Task Force, and is specifically for campuses seeking help meeting the requirements of the U.S. Department of Education’s “Dear Colleague” letter in conjunction with Ohio’s guidelines as described in “A Safer Campus: A Guidebook on Prevention and Response to Sexual and Intimate Partner Violence and Stalking for Ohio Campuses.” The Ohio regional meetings are complementary to the Campus Safety Summit held every August sponsored by the Ohio Board of Regents, according to Corina Klies, Prevention Programs Coordinator for the Ohio Domestic Violence Network.
