Lindner College of Business Installs New Leadership at UC Center for Entrepreneurship Education & Research
The Carl H. Lindner College of Business is pleased to name professor Thomas Dalziel as the new executive director of the UC Center for Entrepreneurship Education & Research.
Dalziel, associate professor of entrepreneurship and strategic management, will take over as the centers executive director from professor Charles Matthews, an internationally recognized scholar and innovative teacher who led the center since its founding in 1997. Matthews will remain at Lindner as he continues his focus on teaching and research.
Tom is a great fit for the role as he is instrumentally involved in the teaching, research and collaborative community role the Entrepreneurship Center plays both here at UC and with the local business community, Lindner College of Business Dean David Szymanski says. I am confident he will expand the centers mission and elevate its impact by creating gateways to commercialization for entrepreneurs, both at UC and in our region.
Dalziel, the son of European immigrants to Canada, grew up in a family business and has since launched several entrepreneurial ventures of his own. After success as an IT entrepreneur and founder of a nonprofit society, he earned his PhD in business administration in 2005 from the W. P. Carey School of Business at Arizona State University and has been at UC ever since, most recently serving as an entrepreneurship program director in the Lindner College of Business. He will oversee a host of entrepreneurial activities including community outreach events; seminars for entrepreneurs and executives; and affiliations with local incubators, as well as student programs.
An experienced management consultant and entrepreneur, Dalziel has served in more than 40 industries and 13 countries with a track record of improving the performance of emerging and established organizations with revenues up to $6 billion.
In 2012, he received the national Leavey Award for Excellence in Private Enterprise Education from the Freedoms Foundation, and he is the recipient of several awards from the National Small Business Institute for supervising student consulting teams helping entrepreneurs and managers to grow their businesses and create jobs.
