UC Clermont College Announces New Head Soccer Coaches
UC Clermont has hired two new head coaches for its new soccer program. Pete Ohmer will lead the Mens Soccer Program and Josh Howard will lead the Womens Soccer Program. UC Clermont announced earlier this year that it will be expanding its athletic offerings to include mens and womens soccer in the fall of 2015.
Pete Ohmer will take the lead as the new Head Mens Soccer Coach and is a current Trainer for Cincinnati Soccer Alliance. Ohmer also coaches at Ohio South with the Olympic Development Program on the district and state staff. Over the summer months Ohmer will coach in multiple team camps including Ohio Souths Girls High School summer camp. Ohmer currently has his D License and Goalkeeper Level 1 Diploma.
It is an honor to coach the very first Mens Soccer team at Clermont College. Coaching is a normal progression after my playing career and has come very natural to me. My entire career I have been surrounded by great players and coaches. It is now my turn to give back to the community and players. Im looking forward to coaching at the college level, said Ohmer.
Ohmers coaching experience includes: Current Trainer at Cincinnati Soccer Alliance, Olympic Development State Team Assistant Coach 1999 Younger Boys Rockford Illinois Regional Camp, Olympic Development District Team Staff 2013-2014, Olympic Development State Staff 2013-2014, Ohio South High School Girls Camp, Miami Township Soccer Club, On Goal Soccer Academy and T&T Soccer Camp Instructor.
A 1997 Milford High School Graduate, Ohmer played all four years on the Varsity High School soccer team under Head Coach Alan Grothaus. In those four years Ohmer was four-year starter and team captain junior and senior year. After his senior year, Ohmer was selected as Team MVP and awarded GMC All-City selection playing in the senior All-Star game. Ohmer was selected to Milford High Schools 25 anniversary Top 25 players in school history team. Ohmer resides in Milford with his wife Sarah Ohmer and four children: Maggie, Christian, Charlie, and Perrin.

Josh Howard
will take the lead as the new Head Womens Soccer Coach. Currently, Howard is the Girls Director of Coaching with the Centerville United Soccer Association (CUSA) Crew Juniors soccer club in Dayton where he oversees the entire girls program from U6-U18. Along with those responsibilities, he is an Ohio South Olympic Development Program State Staff Coach and Evaluator.
Before coming to CUSA in 2012, Howard was the assistant mens soccer coach at West Virginia University Institute of Technology, a national caliber program who have won the USCAA National Championship the last two years in a row while finishing as finalist in 2012.
"It has been a goal of mine to be able to get back into collegiate soccer here in the Cincinnati area. UC Clermont has a lot to offer with good programs as well as a beautiful campus. I am looking forward to the opportunity here at UC Clermont," said Howard.
As the recruiting coordinator and goalkeeper coach, Howard was on staff in 2011 helping lead WVU Tech to the best record in school history at the time (10-5-3) and recruiting a 15-player class that would help take WVU Tech to the National Championship the next three years in a row.
Before joining WVU Tech, Howard was the head boys varsity soccer coach at Middletown High School. In just three years, he left ranked third all-time in wins and winning percentage and was the Chairman of the Boys Southwest District All-Star Game. Howard has also had success at the club level. In 2012, he helped lead the West Virginia Chaos 96 Boys to the State Cup Championship as well as finishing as either champion or finalist in every tournament they participated in that season.
Before getting into coaching, Howard was a collegiate player at Ohio Northern University and later transferred to Miami University. He graduated from Miami University in 2008 with a bachelors degree in geography with a coaching minor. In 2010, he graduated with a masters degree in sport administration from Xavier University.
Howard currently holds licenses from the United States Soccer Federation (USSF) and National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA). He also serves as an associate staff coach for coaching education for the NSCAA. He holds the NSCAA Premier Diploma, NSCAA Advanced National Diploma, NSCAA National Diploma, USSF National D License, USSF National Youth License, NSCAA Level III Goalkeeping Diploma, NSCAA Level II Goalkeeping Diploma, NSCAA Level I Goalkeeping Diploma, and the NSCAA Director of Coaching Diploma.
He currently resides in Monroe, OH with his wife Amanda and daughter, Melanie.
The UC Clermont Cougars participate in the United States Collegiate Athletic Association (USCAA). UC Clermont Athletics includes Women's Volleyball, Men's and Women's Basketball, Baseball and Softball. The Cougars have been successful - bringing home national championship titles in mens and womens basketball and baseball. In addition, the volleyball and softball programs have been ranked nationally and have been highly competitive in national tournament play.
