President Santa Ono's Statement on Governor Kasich's Budget Proposal

"I want to express my appreciation to Governor Kasich for identifying ways to support higher education while also asking Ohio’s public universities to find ways to contain costs. His recommendations to invest additional funding in higher education and to cap tuition increases at 2 percent in 2016  and 0 percent in 2017 seem reasonable and are appreciated.  In addition, his innovative idea to support students who take jobs in high-demand fields in Ohio will simultaneously help students reduce debt, enhance employment in high-demand areas and keep college graduates in Ohio, which makes it a win-win-win.  I also appreciate Governor Kasich’s willingness to listen to the input of Ohio’s university presidents and his engagement with the University of Cincinnati."
