University of Cincinnati Students, Faculty Help Save Thousands of Lives
Students and faculty at the University of Cincinnati helped to save thousands of lives in the community by donating blood during the most recent All-Campus drive.
The drive, which was held Monday, Feb. 2 through Friday, Feb. 6, had a total of 964 registered donors with 734 units of lifesaving blood products collected.
More than 2,202 lives will be affected by the amount of blood donated by UC.
The drive recruited 203 first time donors who impacted the collections immensely.
The enthusiasm and kindness of the donors was inspiring, said Jim Tinker, division director of donor recruitment and community relations. The reasons for giving were as varied as the donors, but I liked one students comment. She said, Im donating because sometimes the smallest thing can make the biggest difference. We hope to inspire more donors to give at the next campus drive and make it the biggest UC drive ever.
The next All-Campus Blood Drive will be held Monday, April 6 through Friday, April 10 on the UC campus.
The blood drive is co-sponsored by the University of Cincinnati Bookstore. For more information and news about upcoming blood drives, go to http://hoxworth.org/groups/uc.html.
