Macy's Arts Sampler at UC Clermont College on March 7
The annual Macys Arts Sampler presented by ArtsWave celebrates the creative things music, dance, theater, museums, and festivals happening in large and small ways throughout our region. UC Clermont College will be hosting family-friendly activities 10 a.m. 2 p.m., Saturday, March 7, on the campus at 4200 Clermont College Dr. in Batavia. All events are free and open to the public thanks to the generous sponsorship of Macys.
Macys Arts Sampler 2015 Event Schedule
Saturday, March 7, 10 a.m. 2 p.m.
10 a.m. - 12 p.m. RECYCLED BOTTLE ART
Location: Snyder, S142- Make various art projects using recycled water bottles and additional materials.
10 a.m. - 2 p.m. CRAFT CORNER
Location: Cougar Café Lounge- Join us at the craft tables for a variety of family-friendly activities.
10 a.m. - 2 p.m. GALLERY EXHIBIT 50 PLUS
Snyder Art Gallery, S140- Curated by Bruno Zabaglio and Dan Vance, a group exhibition of local artists over fifty years of age, featuring 2D and 3D works in a broad range of styles and interpretations, which reflect the different backgrounds of individual artists and their approach to art.
11-11:45 a.m. TWAINS TWISTED TAILS PERFORMANCE
Location: Peters-Jones, Krueger Auditorium- Claras ordinary day takes an unexpected twist when Mark Twains most beloved characters escape from her book!! Putting them back where they belong is going to take help from Mark Twain himself. Madcap is proud to introduce the life and stories of one of Americas greatest literary figures and humorists with giant puppets and audience participation. The stories included are: The Celebrated Jumping Frog of Calaveras County, Legend of Sagenfeld, and selections from The Adventures of Tom Sawyer and Adventures of Huckleberry Finn. Performed by Madcap Puppets.
12 - 2 p.m. FACE PAINTING
Location: Student Lounge- Artist, Jennifer Pilott, owner of Fabulous Faces by Jen, returns to create awesome works of art using your face as the canvas!
12 - 12:30 p.m. ARTIST SKETCHBOOK MAKING WORKSHOP
Location: Snyder Art Lab, S153- In this fun workshop, children will learn to create and assemble an original artist's sketchbook, which can be used to collect and store drawings, paintings, and collage ideas for young artists. All ages welcome with parental supervision. This workshop can accommodate up to 24 children.
12:30 - 1 p.m. ARTIST SKETCHBOOK MAKING WORKSHOP
Same as above. This workshop can accommodate up to 24 children.
1 - 2 p.m. DECALCOMANIA - A technique used by Surrealist painters to find hidden imagery in a piece of art. Children and adults alike can join in this workshop and discover the images that lie within their work. Parental assistance is necessary for young children.
About Arts Sampler
For more than 20 years UC Clermont College has proudly participated in the Cincinnati ArtsWave Sampler as a venue in Clermont County. Celebrated annually in February, the arts sampler is one of the largest FREE arts festivals in the nation.
The entire event spotlights the Greater Cincinnati areas many arts venues, artists and performers through its more than 100 free activities that take place in various communities throughout the region from Loveland to Blue Ash, Covington to downtown Cincinnati.
As a participant, UC Clermont College features numerous family-friendly arts-focused activities and workshops and our Krueger Auditorium hosts everything from philharmonic concerts to theatre and dance performances.
All ArtsWave Sampler events at UC Clermont College are FREE and open to the public!
