Campus Services Showcase
The annual
is an interactive exposition that focuses on the wide range of products and services from the Bearcat Card, Campus Recreation, Central Stores, Conference & Event Services, Housing & Food Services, Kingsgate Marriott Conference Center, MainStreet Operations, Parking Services, PNC Bank, the UC Bookstores and Vending Services.
Showcase Events
Activities will include catering displays and cooking demonstrations, more than 25 vendor booths with free food samples, information and activities, and a silent auction to raise funds for the Darwin T. Turner Scholarship and the Gen-1 Program. Auctioned items will include Reds tickets, a 12-month Parking Permit, an annual Campus Recreation membership and more. Donations can also be made to the UC Foundation via check, credit card or cash.
Campus Services staff and partners will be on hand to provide details on all service areas, including how to receive staff discounts on many campus products, services and the Office Depot|Max ordering system through GBEX. Culinary demonstrations will feature Caminetto Euro-American Bistro and Mick & Macks Contemporary Café menus and chefs. Samplings from each menu item will be available for tasting. Participants are encouraged to bring their UC ID to swipe for prizes!
Photo Opp
While at the Showcase, stop by and pose for the upcoming Bearcat ID Card. The new photo will be kept on file in anticipation of the fall 2015 Bearcat Card replacement. Coming: Hot New ID Card. Hot New Look. Cool New Functionalities.
Transportation
Extra shuttles will run during Showcase hours between MainStreet and Kingsgate Marriott. From west campus, pick up a shuttle from the CRC or the CCM Plaza - Eden Avenue shuttle at the CCM circle. If driving to the event, be sure to park in either the Kingsgate Marriott or Eden Garage, and check in at the Parking Services Showcase table for a complimentary parking voucher.

Engineering magnets for a cleaner future

The United States is heavily reliant on imported rare-earth materials to make permanent magnets. Ugochukwu Philip Ochieze, materials science student at the University of Cincinnati, is studying how to use common materials to create permanent magnets, eliminating the need for expensive and scarce rare-earth materials. Pursuing his PhD, Ochieze was named Graduate Student Engineer of the Month by the College of Engineering and Applied Science.
