July 29 Remarks by UC President Santa Ono
University of Cincinnati President Santa Ono participated in a July 29 press conference with other city leaders at City Hall in regard to a Hamilton County grand jury returned an indictment of murder against Ray Tensing, who has been dismissed from his position.
Points that President Ono made during the press conference included
- President Ono met with members of Samuel Deboses family. During the press conference, he stated, "On behalf of the university community, we continue to extend our thoughts, prayers and condolences to the family and loved ones of Samuel Debose."
- Officer Ray Tensing has been dismissed from his position with the university.
- The university is reviewing what occurred and will take necessary steps to address any training, staffing and hiring issues.
- The university will continue to work with community partners.
