Parking Access System Transition Update

Transitioned Garages

The new parking access system is now operational in Corry, University Avenue and Varsity Village Garages. Campus Green Garage is anticipated to come online this week, with CCM Garage following soon after.

To stay up to date on garages in transition and those that are completed,

visit the parking website

.

Once a garage transition is complete, the current permit hangtag will be utilized in a different way to access the new gate system. Instead of a proximity reader, the barcode located on the back of the hangtag will be read by the system. Note how in the picture shown here.

Some key tips to using the barcode reader include:

  • Hold the hangtag still under the barcode reader. Waving the hangtag prevents the reader from being able to scan the barcode.
  • The hangtag can be held in any direction as long as the barcode is located under the reader.

Enhancements

Coming Fall Semester 2015, a new option will be offered to faculty, staff and students to buy a “UC Fast Pass” that will allow hands-free permit access to their transitioned garage.

Beginning Spring Semester 2016, the new Bearcat Card IDs will have the ability to be used for access to the garages. The IDs will be read by a “prox” reader in the new access system.

Parking Vouchers

Administrators who provide #2 vouchers to campus visitors will need to request vouchers for the transitioned garages through the

Special Parking form

.

It is important to specify

in the request that your department is requesting vouchers for the transitioned garages. During the transition period, departments should ask visitors in which garage they are parked or will be parked in order to distribute the correct voucher.
