UC CEAS Fire Science to Host Community Paramedicine Conference, Aug. 21
The University of Cincinnatis College of Engineering and Applied Science (UC CEAS) Fire Science & Emergency Management Program is hosting the Community Paramedicine Conference on Aug. 21. The conference unites both local and national fire and emergency professionals with the common goal of providing new income opportunities with hospitals and other local organizations. The event will be held at the Boy Scouts of America office on Reading Road from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
The conference features keynote success stories of nationally recognized fire and emergency professionals, including:
- Norman Seals assistant chief of emergency medical services for the Dallas Fire-Rescue Department in Dallas, Texas.
- Steven Davison chief of emergency medical services for the Fishers Fire Department in Fishers, Indiana.
- Lieutenants Josh Mehling and Joe Harding of the Fishers Fire Department, who established WeCare, a proactive program designed to improve the communitys health and wellness through enhanced access to social and financial services.
Leading the discussion on Ohio legislation and regulation is Deanna Harris, chair of the Ohio Emergency Medical Services Mobile Integrated Healthcare Ad Hoc Committee, accompanied by Scioto Township Fire Department Fire Chief Porter (Chip) Welch. Chief Welch was the president of the Ohio Fire Chiefs Association from 2013-14.
Other fire and emergency success stories include Delaware County Fire Chief John Donahue; Director of Personal Health Division for Delaware General Health District Joan Donahue; and Director of Client Services for Sourcepoint, Fara Waugh. Sourcepoint was formerly known as the Council for Older Adults.
Additional panel discussions will cover topics on partnership opportunities with the Council on Aging of Southwest Ohio and income opportunities with hospitals and retirement centers.
Attending the conference is Ohio State Sen. Bill Seitz, a lifetime resident of western Hamilton County.
