UC Blue Ash Dash 5K Helps Students Reach Graduation
Your participation in the third annual UC Blue Ash Dash 5K Run/Walk for Scholarships could help a deserving student stay on the path to graduation. The event will be held at 8:30 a.m. Oct. 10 on the UC Blue Ash College campus, and all proceeds will again go toward student scholarships.
Over the past two years, the UC Blue Ash Dash 5K has attracted more than 1,000 participants and generated over $70,000 for scholarships. This financial support can literally be the difference between a student dropping out or staying the course.
Approximately three-fourths of our students work while attending school. A scholarship can mean fewer hours on the job, more time for studying, and much better odds for successfully reaching graduation, said Cady Short-Thompson, dean of UC Blue Ash College.
Running Time manages the chip-timed 5K. It will begin in the center of the UC Blue Ash campus, travel north on Plainfield Road just south of the Carpenters Run intersection and loop back to the campus for the finish. Participants can run or walk, and there will be over 30 awards for individual and team honors up for grabs.
You can also choose to "sleep in for scholarships." You dont need to actually be here in person, but your entry fee will go toward helping a deserving student advance their education and you will still receive a free UC Blue Ash Dash T-shirt and gift bag while supplies last, says Meredith Delaney, director of Development and Alumni Relations at UC Blue Ash.
Registration fees for non-students are $25 in advance (including the "sleep in" option) or $30 on the day of the race. The fee for all students (not just UC Blue Ash) is $15 in advance or $20 on the day of the race.
