Upcoming 'Be Well UC' Programs Focus on Physical, Financial Health
Faculty and staff at the University of Cincinnati can learn how to improve both their physical and financial health through upcoming programs and opportunities offered by Be Well UC.
The comprehensive program launched Sept. 1 offers a number of health and wellness opportunities, seminars, coaching and challenges for employees, all with incentives for participation.
Upcoming Be Well UC activities include:
- Use the new personalized health care tool Castlight now through Sept. 30 for a chance to win a $25 UC Bookstore gift card. The online healthcare tool available at Anthem.com lets you search for care based on cost, quality reviews and location.
- Seasonal flu shots will be available on campus beginning in October. Check out the flyer (PDF) for details and to book yours now.
- Octobers theme is Its YOUR Health. We have a great lineup of speakers already set and more to come. Check out the Be Well UC event calendar for programming options as they are confirmed. Register for lunch & learns on the HRTO page. All events are open to the UC community.
- TIAA-CREF, one of UC's retirement plan providers, has partnered with Be Well UC and the Retirement is Better in the Black program to offer a month-long Financial IQ Challenge through October. You can win a $20 Bookstore Gift Card while learning more about your financial wellness and ways to Save Well. Details will be on the Save Well page by Oct. 1

Ancient Maya blessed their ballcourts

Using environmental DNA analysis, researchers identified a collection of plants used in ceremonial rituals in the ancient Maya city of Yaxnohcah. The plants, known for their religious associations and medicinal properties, were discovered beneath a plaza floor upon which a ballcourt was built, suggesting the building might have been blessed or consecrated during construction.
