UC Faculty: Submit Your Proposal for the AFTL Teaching Showcase
All faculty members
tenure-track, field service, visiting, adjunct, and librarians
are invited to submit proposals for the Jan. 27 Academy of Fellows for Teaching and Learning Teaching Showcase.
The event, which takes place from 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. in the Tangeman University Center, offers educators the opportunity to share a broad range of innovative teaching practices with colleagues. The conference is sponsored by the
Academy of Fellows for Teaching and Learning

Deadline to submit proposals is 5 p.m. Nov. 16.
Types of Presentations
Ignite Session
: Short, punchy, five-minute presentations, with slides that advance every 15 seconds, delivered one presentation after the other. (Check out
for examples.) These sessions are presentation-based, and intended to produce energy, spark ideas, and inspire dialogue. Ignite sessions will also be provided space at the poster session to continue the dialogue around your presentation. These sessions will be held in one large room for one hour.
Poster Session
: Posters will be on display during a set time to be announced later. Presenters will be expected to remain at the presentation site (a bulletin board) for approximately half an hour in order to discuss their topics with attendees. Poster presentations are designed to depict a topic by means of pictures and brief notes.
Presentation
: 20-minute presentations that include audience participation are encouraged.
Workshop
: Two hours to delve into a teaching technique or lead a discussion of scholarly teaching. Workshops will be held from 1:30-3:30 p.m.
Proposal Format:
Title of Presentation (15 words or less)
Brief Description (30-40 words)-This information will be included in the conference program.
Abstract (200 word maximum)
