Be Well UC: October is 'It s YOUR Health' Month

Our health is our most valuable asset, which is why it’s the focus of October’s Be Well UC monthly spotlight. No matter our age or gender, there are recommendations to stay on top of your health. So what are you doing to take care of yours? We have some great opportunities to help you make healthy choices for your future.

  • The Benefits Fair is just around the corner! There will be many opportunities to learn about your health which may include hearing screenings, movement screenings and tables from other wellness vendors (some variety by location). Below are just a few of the options, which require appointments:

Flu shot – visit www.cincyhealthworks.com
Be Well UC Health Screening – login to the Be Well UC Portal to schedule
Mammography Van – call 585-VANN (9266) Option 1 to schedule

  • City Silence wraps up its October run at Van Wormer Hall on from 4-5 p.m. Oct. 29. Beginning in November, join us in TUC Atrium Mondays at Noon. Learn more here.
  • Step 1 must be completed by Nov. 30 to earn the $25 Amazon Gift Card and be eligible for the Step 2 incentive. Visit the Be Well UC portal to complete the health assessment and book your health screening either with your healthcare provider or at one of the remaining events at the benefits fairs or Nov. 17 at TUC. (Step 1 and Step 2 incentives are for those eligible – see website for details).
  • The TIAA-CREF Know Your Financial IQ Challenge has been extended through Nov. 15 to allow for a bit more time to take part in this contest. Visit our Save Well page to learn more and jump right in – the more times you participate the more chances you have to win a bookstore gift card!

We’d love to see what you’re doing to Be Well. Show us how you’re focusing on your health and use #BeWellUC when you tweet and you’ll show up on our

media page

! Share your favorite things to do to work toward health and wellness (with photos if you can!) and help inspire our culture of health on campus:

  • Check out my #BeWellUC pumpkin carving skills!
  • Took advantage of the #BeWellUC Health Screening and working on my SMART Goal.
  • De-stressing while hanging out with my colleagues at a paint night – feels great to do something outside the norm! #BeWellUC
  • To #BeWellUC in the fall means pumpkin. Here’s my favorite treat – pumpkin dip!
  • Raking leaves in my yard definitely means I burned some calories – and that my dinner out tonight will be so well deserved! #BeWellUC
