UC Sing Off Competition Returns Feb. 26

Four teams from the University of Cincinnati and UC Health will battle it out "American Idol"-style on Feb. 26 for a chance to make it to the CincySings stage.

The UC Sing Off competition takes place from 1-2 p.m. in the Tangeman University Center Cinema. Jon Jon of Q102 is emcee of the event, which is free to attend and open to the public.

The teams -- two from UC and two from UC Health -- will perform before a panel of judges, including UC President Santa J. Ono, Queen City Chamber Opera founder Isaac Selya and Robyn Lana, the f

ounder, managing artistic director and conductor of the Cincinnati Children's Choir.

One team from both organizations will be selected to advance to the CincySings semi-finals, set for March 20 at the Aronoff Center.  Up to eight winning teams from the semi-finals will go on to compete at the annual citywide singing competition, which will be held April 13 at Cincinnati’s Historic Music Hall.

UC's The Healing Melodies choir took home the prize for Fan Favorite at last year's annual CincySings event.

Proceeds from CincySings benefits the

ArtsWave Community Campaign

, which provides support to more than 100 arts organizations in the Greater Cincinnati region.  UC is a community supporter of ArtsWave. Last year's UC ArtsWave campaign raised more than $72,000 for the nonprofit organization. This year's campaign runs Feb. 15 through March 18.
