President Ono's Statement on the Loss of UC Alumnus Earl Hamner
We have lost a great friend and brother in the passing of University of Cincinnati alumnus Earl Hamner Jr. He was a literary and television icon. We all felt like we knew him because of The Waltons and its poignant portrayal of a struggling but loving family living in the heart of the Blue Ridge Mountains during the Great Depression. The Waltons was a personal favorite of mine when I was a child. Earl is known for his prolific writing skills but we will also remember his gentle and distinctive voice. Good night, Earl. We are blessed by the stories you shared.
