A New Look for Employee Self Service
Effective Monday, April 11, 2016, Employee Self Service (ESS) will have a new look and some new features.
- A new color scheme of blue and white is the first noticeable change.
- New security has been built into some transactions to protect your personal data requiring users to enter the last four digits of their SSN.
- The overview screen has new features designed to simplify navigation.
- Various screen options are available to find transactions.
New Security
Additional security features have been put into the following transactions in an effort to protect your personal data.
- Bank Account Information
Bank account numbers are now masked (*** followed by the last 4 digits of the account number)
In order to change the bank account, employees will be required to enter the last four digits of their Social Security Number
- W-2s
In order to access the online W-2, employees will be required to enter the last four digits of their Social Security Number
- Adding or Changing Family Members, Dependents and Beneficiaries
In order to add or change a family member, dependent, or beneficiary, employees will be required to enter the last four digits of their Social Security Number
The Social Security Numbers of all family members, dependents and beneficiaries are masked (*******followed by the last 4 digits of the SSN)
Employees will be locked out after 3 unsuccessful attempts to enter the last four digits of their SSN and should contact the help desk for assistance.

The University of Cincinnati stood out to Thavishka Gamage because of the top-ranked cooperative education (co-op) program and the Cincinnati community. He earned his bachelor's degree in computer science and will graduate with his Master of Engineering degree in industrial and systems engineering this spring. He was part of student organizations across campus and connected with the College of Engineering and Applied Science community.
