France, an associate professor and former program chair of the graphic design program at the University of Cincinnati, College of Design, Architecture, Art, and Planning (DAAP), has exhibited her photographs both nationally and internationally in more than 100 exhibitions.
"Positively Alive: The Photographs of Maureen France," a mid-career retrospective exhibition of her black and white documentary work opened at the Cincinnati Art Museum in February 2002. Her photographs have appeared in numerous publications including: the Communication Arts Photography Annual, Photo District News, Fortune Magazine and the book "Ten Thousand Eyes: ASMPs Celebration of the 150th Anniversary of Photography."
Boxers are mentally and physically tough, disciplined and tremendously fast. They stand alone in the ring and they blame no one if they fail. I have tried to photograph what I have seen - the commitment of the athletes, the dedicated staff and the respect that everyone shows for each other, said France.
Frances work is represented in corporate and museum collections including Eastman Kodak, The Cincinnati Art Museum and the Library of Congress.
