The Office of the Provost Announces 2017 Technology Innovation Award Winners

The University of Cincinnati Office of the Provost announced today the recipients of the 2017 Provost Technology Innovation Award, an initiative that has invested more than $1.3 million over two years across the university to support the development of new technologies, programs and curricula that can revolutionize the UC learning experience.

“It is important that we continue to stay on the leading edge of technology to deliver an enhanced student experience through educational innovation,” said UC Interim Provost Peter Landgren on the signature program. “Through the Provost Technology Innovation Award, we celebrate ideas that are created through cross-college collaboration that transform the student experience.”

This year’s award winners include collaborative projects among the College of Allied Health Sciences, the James L. Winkle College of Pharmacy, the College of Education, Criminal Justice & Human Services, UC Blue Ash College, the College of Nursing, the McMicken College of Arts and Sciences, the College of Design, Architecture, Art and Planning, the Carl H. Lindner College of Business, and UC Information Technologies.

Projects funded through this year’s

Provost Technology Innovation Award

program include an online system that will provide future clinicians a safe environment in which they can practice skills with virtual clients and patients, an online application called Skilluate which will offer students and faculty a paperless, evaluation tool and a new certificate program in the field of digital visualization, which will train students to communicate significant data by placing it in a visual context.

“The sheer impact of these ideas on the learning experience at UC is incredible,” says UC Senior Vice Provost for Academic Affairs Eileen Strempel. “We look forward to seeing how this year’s funded projects will continue to revolutionize our institution in the years to come.”

Last year,

the Provost Technology Innovation Award

fueled the development of numerous projects which have gone on to modernize student education at UC. These projects range from a gaming development lab, which is anticipated to hold huge implications for the future of research for the university’s education and instructional design and technology schools, to a robotic lab made to support students studying computer aided design.
