DAAP Presents 66th Annual Fashion Show

The next generation of fashion designers will soon be sending fresh design and vision down the runway at the 66th annual University of Cincinnati DAAP Fashion Show April 28.

For the 12th consecutive year, Macy’s will be the presenting sponsor of the fashion show, which will take place at 7:30 p.m. Friday, April 28, at the UC Campus Recreation Center.

Tickets are now on sale — and are expected to sell out — and quantities are limited. Preferred seating tickets are $60 and can be purchased here. VIP Tickets are $150, include admission to the dean’s pre-show reception and can be purchased by calling 513-451-6191. All attendees are invited to a complimentary after-party.

The show, themed “Introspect,” will feature the work of more than 50 senior students on a 92-foot catwalk accompanied by a live-mixed soundtrack provided by DJ MisterBradleyP. More than 40 runway models will wear one-of-a-kind designs created by the student design talent in the world-renowned DAAP program. Hair and makeup will be designed by students from the Aveda Fredric’s Institute. The talented stage and lighting team from UC’s College-Conservatory of Music bring a new aesthetic to the stage, incorporating an interactive LED wall.

A segment featuring fashion looks styled by DAAP students from Macy’s contemporary Impulse collections will kick off the show, followed by the extensive original creations from children’s wear to bodywear, dresses to tailoring and knitwear, building to the finale collections of senior capstone projects.

“UC’s DAAP program is widely known for its development of high-caliber design talent, and Macy’s is honored to continue our sponsorship of its annual DAAP Fashion Show. We’re proud to be able to bring this incredible design showcase to Cincinnati and support future fashion designers,” said Jim McGowan, Macy’s district vice president.

“The DAAP Fashion Show is truly the fashion event of the year,” said Laurie Wilson, show director. “The garments are one-of-a-kind originals, and the audience is entertained in a way we don’t find around here. It is the ‘fastest flight’ to the fashion capitals of New York, Paris or Milan as you are transformed in space and time without leaving Ohio.”

The fashion show coincides with DAAPworks, the annual showcase that highlights the creative output of each year's graduating class at the college. Works from architecture, fine arts, industrial design and many other programs will be exhibited throughout the college April 25-29.
