YMCA's Nationally Recognized Diabetes Prevention Program Coming To UC

The University of Cincinnati is committed to investing in the health and well-being of its faculty and staff. UC Benefits and Be Well UC are partnering with the YMCA to offer the Diabetes Prevention Program (DPP) on campus. This will be offered as a pilot program during 2018 for up to 100 eligible faculty and staff members at no cost.

About the DPP

The DPP is a nationally recognized program follows the 

CDC curriculum

 to help adults at high risk of developing type 2 diabetes adopt and maintain healthy lifestyles by eating healthier, increasing physical activity, and losing a modest amount of weight in order to improve their overall wellbeing. In a classroom setting, a trained lifestyle coach will facilitate a small group of participants over 25 sessions. Visit the

Who Can Participate?

  • Interested employees must meet the qualifications below:Enrolled in the UC Anthem medical plan for duration of DPP,
  • At least 18 years old,

  • Overweight (BMI =25), and

  • Prediabetes confirmed via one of 3 blood tests or previous diagnosis of gestational diabetes within 6 months of the date the DPP program begins.

    Features and Privacy
  • UC Benefits is offering the YMCA's Diabetes Prevention Program (DPP) on a pilot basis in 2018.  Participation is available for up to 100 eligible employees.  There is no cost for program participation ($429 value).

  • The DPP program includes FREE individual YMCA membership for 1 year ($750 value), and 20 Be Well UC points for completing all 25 sessions ($20 value).

  • No personal health information will be shared with UC. Only names and M#s of participants will be shared with UC to confirm eligibility.

His work in the field of gas turbine simulation and design continues to leave a significant impact on the industry. He was honored by the American Society of Mechanical Engineers with the International Gas Turbine Institute Scholar Award. Turner is part of the Department of Aerospace Engineering and Engineering Mechanics at UC.
