UC Clermont Welcomes New Associate Dean
UC Clermont College welcomed Mona Sedrak as associate dean of academic affairs on Feb. 26.
Prior to joining UC Clermont, Sedrak served as senior associate dean of academic affairs in the School of Health & Medical Sciences at Seton Hall University in South Orange, New Jersey. Sedrak has a bachelors degree from the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center, a masters degree in advanced physician assistant studies from AT Still University and a doctorate in higher education from Walden University. Sedraks research interests include authentic leadership, faculty competencies for health science faculty, teaching and reaching millennials, and millennials in the workplace.
Dr. Sedrak brings a wealth of academic administrative experience, teaching experience, practical experience in the health field and a strong research background to the associate dean role, said UC Clermont Dean Jeff Bauer. We are thrilled to have her serve our students and the college.
Sedrak, a first-generation immigrant from Egypt, said education was a high priority in her family. Growing up, my father always stressed the importance of education, and he and my mother made many sacrifices to make sure each of their children graduated from college, Sedrak said. I believe higher education is a privilege that should be available to everyone because it opens minds and changes lives, not only for the student, but for their entire family. Every person deserves a chance to better their lives and follow their dreams.
In particular, Sedrak was drawn to UC Clermonts mission to provide student-centered undergraduate education and life-long learning in an open-access environment that fosters diversity as well as intellectual, cultural and social development. My goal is to work with students, faculty, staff, administrators and the community to develop and grow innovative programs that meet UC Clermonts mission and serve the community, she said.
