Help Gen-1 Students Dress for Success
Housed in the Division of Student Affairs, Gen-1 is a groundbreaking University of Cincinnati program that is the nations first living-learning community to focus on first-generation college students. Gen-1 provides support and scholarships to first-generation, Pell-eligible students as they transition to UC and work to complete their degree.
To expand support for program participants, Gen-1 is hosting a professional-clothing drive on Thursday, March 22, from 5 to 7 p.m. at the 2647 Stratford Heights round-about. We are looking for full suits, jackets/blazers, shirts/blouses, dress slacks/pants, dresses, skirts, ties and dress shoes.
This clothing drive will provide a way for Gen-1 students to access free professional attire appropriate for career fairs, interviews and the workplace. Our goal is to help students look their best throughout their job search, so they can make a positive impression as they enter the professional world. If you have any of the mentioned articles of clothing mentioned, please come to the clothes drive.
Since its inception in September of 2008, Gen-1 has provided students with a structured environment in which to live, learn and work. In 2010, the Gen-1 Theme House was named among three exceptional initiatives in the Midwest to be honored with the first CollegeKeys Compact Innovation Awards. Expanding in 2011 to accommodate upper-class students, the program continues to grow. Gen-1 celebrated its first graduates in 2012. Join us in continuing support for these students and our community at large through the Processional Clothing Drive. Your participation makes an enormous difference!
