Diabetes affects an estimated 17 to 20 million people in the U.S., with almost 800,000 new cases diagnosed each year.  Medications, physical activity and diet can help people manage their diabetes.

Cindy Goody, PhD, RD, LD, assistant professor of nutrition, UC College of Allied Health Sciences, is seeking volunteers for a study on the benefits of nutritional counseling for people with type 2 diabetes.

African-American and Caucasian women, between the ages of 30 and 65, who have type 2 diabetes and are taking oral diabetes medication are needed.

Free diet counseling and compensation for time and travel will be provided.  For more information, contact Cindy Goody at 558-7513.
