UC College of Nursing and the Health Alliance Enter Three-Year Partnership to Recruit Nurses

The UC College of Nursing and the Health Alliance have entered a three-year agreement to help recruit nurses. As part of the agreement, the Health Alliance will provide $158,000 annually for three years in salary support for faculty positions within UC's College of Nursing. The Health Alliance presented the College with a check for $158,000 Tuesday, Oct. 12.

As part of the partnership, the Health Alliance will also provide:

  • $4,000 scholarships to UC nursing students, who would be required to work in  Health Alliance hospitals for 12 months after graduation
  • a one-time $1,000 supplement to the UC College of Nursing for each scholarship awarded, for use in furthering the educational mission of its nursing program
  • access to hospital training classrooms and clinical units for skills laboratory teaching and clinical education

"We are pleased to collaborate with the Health Alliance in recruiting nurses," says Andrea Lindell, DNSc, MSN, RN, dean and professor, UC College of Nursing. "The money we receive will allow us to hire full-time clinical teaching faculty and offer attractive scholarships to students pursuing a career in nursing. The Health Alliance will benefit by having more nurses on staff to treat patients at its six hospitals in the area."

Bob Griffith, senior vice president of human resources for the Health Alliance, says, "Through this partnership, we hope to increase the number of nurses available to care for the people in our community in need of health care services."
