Cancer Survivors Cruise Ohio River June 5
Registration is open for the Tristate cancer survivors annual Ohio River cruise on Sunday, June 5.
The trip from Covington Landing aboard BB Riverboats Belle of Cincinnati will be two hours of entertainmentplus food, complimentary photos and prizes in celebration of National Cancer Survivors Day.
The event underscores that with early detection and treatment cancer is a survivable disease.
There is life after cancer, says Linda Karr, development officer for the UC Cancer Center, and its an inspiration to see the hundreds of survivors who come the first Sunday in June each year to celebrate another year of life.
Cancer puts life into perspective and shows you how important celebrating is, says cancer survivor Herschel Chalk, who was successfully treated by UC doctors at the Barrett Cancer Center. Grateful for his treatment, Chalk started a man-to-man prostate support cancer group for the American Cancer Society.
The cost of the cruise is $10 per person, and each cancer survivor may bring one guest.

The University of Cincinnati Cancer Center's Ed Faber, DO, provided commentary to Medscape on the COBRA study that found the combination of carfilzomib combined with lenalidomide and dexamethasone (KRd) shows significantly greater efficacy than the previous standard of care.
