Summer Golf Classic Benefits Local Cancer Research

CINCINNATI—Amateurs and pros alike are invited to start swinging for a good cause at the first University of Cincinnati (UC) Cancer Center/Barrett Center Golf Classic.

The 18-hole event—set up in a scramble format to accommodate players of all skill levels—is slated for Monday, June 19, at the Snow Hill Country Club,

11093 State Route
73, New Vienna, in Clinton County. Players will tee off at 9:15 a.m.

All proceeds from the event will benefit cancer research programs at the UC Cancer Center/Barrett Center.

“I was so impressed with the care my mother received from Dr. Bill Barrett,” says event cochair Barb Shapiro, “that I decided to do something to support cancer research in my community. My hope is that this event will not only raise money to support the fight against cancer, but that it will also raise awareness of the disease in the community.”

Four-person teams can be made up of any combination of men and women. In addition to scramble play, players have a chance to win major prizes in a hole-in-one contest, including a Buick LaCrosse sedan donated by

Bush Auto Place
and Dr. W. Glenn MacDonald-Dr. Julie L. Mercer Optometrists in Wilmington, airline tickets and a year of car service.

Registration is $125 per person and must be received by Wednesday, June 14. Complimentary breakfast and lunch will be provided, as well as beverages throughout the day.

To register or for information about volunteering contact Shapiro at (513) 321-2268 or Sandra Terry at st@snowhillcountryclub.com.

The UC Cancer Center/Barrett Center Golf Classic is supported by GH Crossroads Hospice of Blue Ash, U.S. Bank and United American Sales. Event committee members include Sandra Terry, cochair, Lorie MacDonald and Celina Gronau.
