Free Medical Screenings and Educational Talks Offered at Open House
CINCINNATITristate residents are encouraged to make their health a priority at the University of Cincinnati (UC) Physicians group 5th Annual Open House and Health Fair.
The event, which is free and open to the public, takes place Saturday, Oct. 14, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the University Pointe medical campus in West Chester.
Our 500-physician clinical practice is here to serve the Tristate communitys medical needswhether those needs are general or highly specialized, says Randy Hillard, MD, chief executive officer of the UC Physicians clinical practice group. By educating people about health, we hope our patients will make good health choices that lead to a holistically healthy lifestyle.
UC physicians will offer preventive health screenings throughout the event, including hearing, allergy, blood glucose, skin cancer, strength and nerve conduction tests.
In addition to health screenings, several attendees will receive complimentary chair massages from the University Pointe massage therapists and all attendees can participate in 30-minute interactive educational sessions about some of the latest advances medical advances, including:
- An in vitro fertilization shared-risk program, presented by Dan Williams, MD (11 a.m.)
- Oncoplastic surgery for breast cancer and reconstructive surgery options, presented by Jennifer Manders, MD, and Anureet Bajaj, MD (Noon)
- Non-operative treatments for back pain, presented by Muhammad Munir, MD (1 p.m.)
All educational sessions will be held in University Pointes first floor community room. Registration is requested, but not required and can be made in advance by calling (513) 475-8010. All education session attendees will receive a free umbrella.
Representatives from the UC Diabetes Center will also be on hand to talk about a series of self-management education classes offered monthly at University Pointe for people with type 2 diabetes. The free classes start in October and are scheduled on Wednesdays from 9 a.m. to noon and 1:30 to 4:30 p.m.
With more than 500 practicing physicians, UC Physicians is the regions largest multi-specialty group. The University Pointe medical campus, a 75-acre facility that includes a $3 million imaging center and free-standing outpatient hospital, is one of three clinical practice sites operated by UC Physicians.
