UC Pharmacy College Reaccredited

Cincinnati—The UC College of Pharmacy has again received a full, six-year accreditation from the American Council on Pharmacy Education (ACPE), the agency that accredits all colleges of pharmacy in the country.

The college also received commendation for three of the standards set by the ACPE:  faculty/student interactions, its experiential program and library resources. 

This year the college was evaluated by new metrics established by the Department of Education. 

“Six-year accreditation from the ACPE is the highest indication by the agency that your college has fulfilled all the standards,” says College of Pharmacy dean Daniel Acosta. 

“Some colleges may receive a tentative accreditation with the understanding that certain standards have been either partially compliant or not compliant at all,” Acosta says. “We received three commendations for three of the standards, which is very unusual in the new set of standards just introduced by ACPE.  We were only partially compliant in one minor standard, which we can easily address.”

UC’s College of Pharmacy, one of the oldest in the United States, offers both professional practice (PharmD) and graduate (MS and PhD) degrees. Supported by an active research faculty, the college provides students with an opportunity to develop their individual skills. Graduates of the college have a 100 percent placement rate prior to graduation. The most recent PharmD class achieved a 97 percent passing grade on the National Pharmacy Licensure Examination (NABPLEX), the highest among Ohio pharmacy colleges.
