Hoxworth Schedules Blood Drive to Help Replenish Supplies After Snow
CINCINNATIDue to a snow storm that blanketed the Tristate this week, a number of blood drives were cancelled, and there was a decrease in blood and platelet donations.
Now, Hoxworth Blood Center is asking the UC community to help fill that void.
A special blood drive will take place Tuesday, Feb. 16, from 10:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. in the Kresge Auditorium, 3255 Eden Ave. All donors will be registered to win a pair of suite tickets to the sold out Taylor Swift concert on March 28 at U.S. Bank Arena.
We are offering a special incentive to combat blood drive cancelations, says Alecia Lipton, Hoxworth spokesperson. Patients in our 32 area hospitals continue to need blood and platelets. Please join us and make a blood donation as we attempt to make up the more than 300 unit deficit the snow storms caused.
In order to give blood or platelets, donors must:
· Be at least 17 years old or 16 years old with parental consent
· Weigh at least 110 pounds
· Generally feel well and healthy
Please bring a photo ID, and make sure youve had a good meal and are hydrated.
