Dr. Philip Diller Appointed Chair of Family Medicine at UC
CINCINNATIPhilip Diller, MD, PhD, has been appointed chair of the department of family and community medicine at the University of Cincinnati (UC) College of Medicine. The appointment is effective immediately and is pending UC Board of Trustees approval.
Diller has served as interim chair of the department since last August.
"I have been extremely delighted with Dr. Dillers leadership of the department, a sentiment loudly echoed by the family medicine faculty. Clearly, he is the best person to continue leading the department, said Andrew Filak, MD, interim dean of the College of Medicine and vice president of health affairs.
Diller has been a faculty member in the department since July 1991 and was named vice chair in January 2009. He received his medical degree and his doctorate in pathology from the University of Chicago before completing his family medicine residency at the University of Cincinnati.
"His ability to train skilled, compassionate family physicians and his passion for his patients has made him a true leader in family medicine, Filak added. "He also has a deep commitment to community collaboration and relationships between patient and physician.
The recipient of numerous excellence in teaching awards and consistently named to Cincinnatis "Best Doctors listings, Diller has spent much of the last dozen years directing the Christ Hospital/University of Cincinnati Family Medicine Residency Program. Since 2005 he has served as the chair of the Christ Hospital department of family medicine and as a member of the hospitals medical executive committee and medical advisory board.
