Edwards Named 'Apple Distinguished Educator'
Assistant Dean Chris Edwards, director of the College of Nursings Center for Academic Technologies and Educational Resources (CATER), has been selected to join the Apple Distinguished Educator (ADE) program as a member of the Class of 2013.
Edwards joins a select group of education professionals worldwide who are passionately committed to the promise of educational technology to improve teaching and learning.
This is a particularly exciting time for technology and education, he says.
"Over the last 20 years I have experienced a lot of technologies that have impacted education, such as computers in the classroom, wide area networks, wireless, the Internet and mobility. But the iPad, and supporting technologies like the AppleTV, iTunes, App Store, iBooks and iTunesU, represent a shifta real opportunity to not just impact education, but to transform the way we learn, interact and collaborate.
The Apple Distinguished Educator Program began in 1994, when Apple recognized K-12 and higher education pioneers who are using a variety of Apple products to transform teaching and learning in powerful ways.. Today it has grown into a worldwide community of over 2,000 visionary educators and innovative leaders who are doing amazing things with technology in and out of the classroom.
