Awards Given at Annual Diabetes Research Retreat

The Cincinnati Diabetes and Obesity Center hosted its annual research retreat Monday, May 20. Five early investigators were selected to present on their research during the day-long event. They were:

• Jonathan Howell, MD, PhD, pediatrics, Cincinnati Children’s
• Laurie Nommsen-Rivers, PhD, pediatrics, Cincinnati Children’s
• Karen Ryan, PhD, internal medicine
• Yvonne Ulrich-Lai, PhD, psychiatry and behavioral neuroscience

At least two weather patterns increase headaches, UC study suggests

University of Cincinnati physicians and collaborators identified two specific weather patterns that increase headache and migraine risk and found the preventive medication fremanezumab (Ajovy) can reduce weather‑associated headaches. The findings will be presented at the American Headache Society Annual Scientific Meeting in Orlando.
