MPH Program a Founding Member of Public Health Association
UCs Master of Public Health (MPH) Program, housed within the department of environmental health, joined the Association of Schools and Programs of Public Health (ASPPH), a new association which launched Aug. 1.
UC is the 33rd program to join the association, which connects the 50 Council on Education for Public Health (CEPH)-accredited schools, five associate members and 32 CEPH-accredited programs of public health. William Mase, DrPH, director of the UC MPH program, says that benefits to being a ASPPH founding member include serving on the governanace council and setting the agenda for the organziation as well as participating in the Schools of Public Health student admissions system and receiving opportunities for student fellowships, public health advocacy and lobbying activities, publication in exclusive public health journals and award recognition for faculty.
"Joining the ASPPH uniquely positions the UC College of Medicine MPH program to assist in charting the course for public health education at the national as well as international level," says Mase. "Under the leadership of Dean Thomas Boat, MD, and Shuk-mei Ho, PhD, UC is positioned to be the premier public health academic research center in Ohio as well as nationally.
" In 2012, the UC College of Medicine was ranked 11th in the nation among medical schools receiving NIH funding for public health research."
