Focus on Staff With Petra Weaver
Petra Weaver, who is the assistant director for the Master's of Public Health Program within the department of environmental health, says her first job was being a loving mother of four. Eventually, Weaver broke into the medical world, working for a number of years in emergency departments in the Dayton area and with medial residents as a coordinator. In 2003, she began working at Wright State University as program coordinator for its new Master's of Public Health program, helping MPH students, MD/MPH and MD/MBA students on their educational track. She made the move to UC in June 2009.
What do you do as assistant director for the MPH program at UC?
"My duties consist of talking with individuals who are interested in learning more about the program, helping applicants through the application process, assisting students in the program with any issues they may encounter and helping students reach their goal of earning their MPH degree.
What is your favorite part of your job?
"The most rewarding part of the job is working with the students throughout the program and seeing them achieve their educational goals.
What do you like to do when you arent at work?
"When I am not at work, I enjoying reading and spending time with my husband, children and grandchildren.
