Sasaki and Plas Awarded Molecular Therapeutics Grants

Atsuo Sasaki, PhD, assistant professor of medicine, division of hematology oncology, and David Plas, PhD, associate professor of cancer biology, have each been awarded a $100,000 pilot grant award from the UC Brain Tumor Center’s Molecular Therapeutics Program.

Sasaki’s research project is titled, "Targeting Type II PIPK for Malignant Brain Tumors.” Plas’ research is titled, "Analysis of Apoptotic and Metabolic Effects of S6K1 Inhibitors in PTEN-Deficient Glioma.”

The grants will be given over two years with funding beginning this December and second half beginning Dec. 1, 2014.
