Oral Maxillofacial Surgery Hosts Tri-state Symposium
This fall, UCs Division of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery hosted the inaugural Tri-State Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery Symposium, designed to bring together the faculty, residents and alumni of Ohio, Kentucky and Indianas oral surgery training programs.
The symposium, held Saturday, Sept. 14, included 75 participants and featured six speakers from UC, the University of Louisville, Case Western Reserve University, Indiana University, Ohio State University and the University of Kentucky.
"We hosted the event to provide an opportunity for education and camaraderie among all the oral and maxillofacial surgeons in the region, says division chief Robert Marciani, DMD. "Our field is constantly changingits important we approach continuing education together as OMFS practitioners.
In addition to continuing education lectures, the symposium included a hands-on experience for residents with the Biomet fixation system.

The University of Cincinnati Cancer Center's Ed Faber, DO, provided commentary to Medscape on the COBRA study that found the combination of carfilzomib combined with lenalidomide and dexamethasone (KRd) shows significantly greater efficacy than the previous standard of care.
