UC s Online Nursing Programs Ranked Among Best
The University of Cincinnati (UC) College of Nursing came in at No. 37 out of 95 nursing schools ranked by U.S.News & World Report in its 2014 Best Online Programs listing.
The rankingspulled from nearly 1,000 distance education programs surveyedreflect scores from peer-to-peer evaluation, one-year retention rates, graduate rates and required time to graduate.
The UC College of Nursing began offering online nurse midwifery and womens health nurse practitioner programs in 2005. Since then, the colleges online offerings have expanded to include an RN to BSN program, a nurse educator certificate program, a psychiatric mental health post-master's certificate, and additional MSN specializations in adult nurse practitioner, clinical nurse specialist/nurse educator, family nurse practitioner and nursing administration. The college also offers a hybrid neonatal nurse practitioner and doctor of nursing practice program.
In July 2012, the UC College of Nursing was awarded more than $850,000 from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) for the development of virtual interactive case studies for interprofessional health care education.
The case studiesexpected to be piloted in spring 2014 and rolled out broadly in fall 2014are being designed to mimic for distance leaners, via video and interactive online tools, the face-to-face interactions that on-site students have with standardized patients.
In 2014, SuperScholar.org listed UC No. 19 among its top nursing schools for online nursing degrees.
