Elevator Use Restricted During Resurfacing of Doors

Work will begin Monday night, April 14, 2014, on resurfacing the exterior doors of the main elevators in the Medical Sciences Building (MSB). There are six elevators involved: two banks of three elevators apiece, facing each other.

Work will be conducted from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. nightly Monday through Friday and will begin with the south bank (the bank closer to the bookstore and UC Medical Center). Working floor-by-floor through all 10 levels of the MSB, the contractor will be installing a new metal surface to the old doors as part of the building upgrades.

While this work is being done, the north bank (closer to Kresge Auditorium and Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center) will remain in use. The south bank elevators will be turned off each evening and have signage and caution tape blocking them at each floor. All elevators will be operational during the day.

Work will begin on the north bank of elevators after work on the south bank is complete. The entire process is expected to take 10 to 12 weeks.
