UC, UC Health to Host Leadership Cincinnati

The University of Cincinnati Academic Health Center and UC Health will host Class 38 of the Cincinnati USA Regional Chamber’s Leadership Cincinnati Thursday, Dec. 11, for a session titled "Leading for a Healthy Community.”

Leadership Cincinnati is Chamber’s flagship leadership development program. Participants—senior leaders looking to make a difference in the community—are selected through a competitive application process.

The more than 50 corporate and nonprofit leaders in Class 38 will spend the day on UC’s medical campus learning about the key drivers that make our current national health system unsustainable as well as regional challenges and community solutions for improving health and health care and lowering costs.

Following lunch, the group will tour the Cincinnati Department of Veterans Affairs Medical Center. The afternoon will comprise breakout sessions on community crises, including advance care planning, the heroin epidemic, mental illness and infant mortality and health dipartites.

The Leading for a Healthy Community event is co-chaired by Ruby Crawford-Hemphill, assistant chief nursing officer, Center for Women’s Health at UC Medical Center, and Barbara Tobias, MD, vice chair of the UC Department of Family and Community Medicine. Both were members of Class 37 of Leadership Cincinnati.
